About the event

This illustrated talk will be a look back at Easter Ross and Invergordon Castle history to find out how Robert Bruce Aeneas Macleod came to be Invergordon’s first Provost, and how the stunning 300-year-old marriage lintel in Invergordon Museum got there, via the Castle, from Cadboll.

The Gordons, the Tarbat Mackenzies (Earls of Cromartie), and the Jacobite rebellions also feature in the story – it’s a whirlwind tour of Easter Ross’s historic titled characters!

Finally we’ll look at the illuminated lintel itself, and see how that history explains what all the symbols on it (and on the provost’s chair) mean.
