Invergordon Museum will take part in Doors Open Days 2026 with free weekend opening on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, showcasing the development of a Virtual Reality Tour of the Inchindown Oil Tanks.
Hidden beneath the hills of Easter Ross, the Inchindown Oil Tanks are a remarkable Second World War engineering achievement, built to store fuel safely for the Royal Navy.
A partnership between Invergordon Development Trust (IDT) and researchers at UHI Moray has produced an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience, allowing visitors to explore the vast underground oil storage facility without visiting the site in person.
Other information, photos and short film of the World Record holding Inchindown oil storage facility will also be available to see at Invergordon Museum. Open 10am-4pm, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September.
